WHAT IS ACUNEEDLING?
Acuneedling is needling by a Registered Midwife. Acuneedling works on the meridians of the body to balance and harmonise 'Qi'. Working within our scope of practice, midwives trained in acuneedling can assist with conditions of pregnancy, labour, birth and the early postpartum.
Acuneedling treats both the emotional and physical changes through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

WHAT CAN ACUNEEDLING ASSIST WITH?

Acuneedling is a safe additional treatment for many pregnancy conditions and may include:

PREGNANCY
​
- nausea/vomiting and heartburn
- constipation
- haemorrhoids/ varicose veins/ vulval varicosities
-back/hip/symphysis pubic pain and musculoskeletal conditions
- emotional concerns / fears
- restless leg syndrome / leg cramps
- insomnia
- fetal positioning ​

LABOUR PREPARATION
​
- Labour and birth preparation from 36 weeks
The benefits of acuneedling for labour preparation are primarily to calm the mind, to release and strengthen energy (Qi) and to move energy (Qi) gently around your baby.
​
The combination of auneedling may also be combined with different maternal positions to assist in creating room for baby and lengthening ligaments.

POSTPARTUM
​
- mother warming for post birth healing through the use of moxibustion
- common breastfeeding issues including mastitis or blocked ducts (combined with support and input from lactation consultants and GPs)

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
​
Acuneedling treatments are indivisualised and can include the combination of acuneedling, moxibustion, relaxation... and a chat with a midwife!

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please be aware a $40 cancellation fee applies to appointments cancelled within 12 hours of your booked appointment for reasons other than medical assistance or labour/ birth.
